Eye Strain

I am starting to experience serious eye strain from staring at my computer screen all day. Pretty much from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed, I’m staring at my computer screen. From 8:30am-5:00pm I’m looking at my work computer and from 5:05pm-11:00pm I’m staring at my personal computer. In the rare instance that I’m not looking at my computer, I’m staring at my phone.

My addiction to screens is really bad and it’s starting to negatively affect my eye health. Not to mention the lack of exercise I do, but that’s not the point of this blog post. The point is that all this screen time is hurting my eyes and I think it’s very possible that I’ll need glasses going forward. In fact, I think it’s about time that I book into the highly-regarded optometrist local to Bentleigh. If I don’t, my eyesight is just going to get worse and worse until it’s too late.

I have a bad feeling that the optometrist that I visit will tell me I need to stop looking at screens for so many hours per day. They’ll also probably tell me to purchase screens that are proven to be better for my eyes, but that’s easier said than done. Does she think I can just get my work to buy me a new $100 screen? There’s no way that they would. I’m not worth a new screen to them. It’s embarrassing and is hurting my eyesight, but they wouldn’t care.

I really do think getting an eye test in the Brighton area is the best thing I can do for myself at the moment. It’s no secret that I’m not going to minimise my screen time, so I have to try and do other things instead to help stop my eyes from getting worse. I wish my work would help too, but alas!
